Efficient planting in the fruit tree nursery

25. Mar 2025 | Fruit growing, General

In our latest project, we are assisting a fruit tree nursery with the mechanical planting of rootstocks, which are grafted in spring. The young trees remain on the school plantation for two years before being transplanted.

A decisive factor for the successful growth and healthy development of young fruit trees is an optimal water supply – especially in the first months and years after planting. To ensure this, POLYSORB was worked directly into the planting substrate during planting using the Lehner RDS 170 spreader.

Why POLYSORB? The advantages at a glance

  • Maximum water storage – POLYSORB can store 300 times its own weight in water and gradually releases it to the roots.
  • Efficient nutrient supply – In addition to water, the granules also store nutrients and make them available to the plants as required.
  • Healthy root development – Thanks to the continuous supply of moisture, the seedlings grow faster and are more resistant to drought stress.
  • Optimum soil structure – The granules help to reduce compaction and improve root penetration of the soil.

Sustainable solution for fruit tree production

Thanks to the targeted addition of POLYSORB, the young fruit trees not only benefit from a better water supply, but also from sustainably improved nutrient uptake. This means less watering, a higher growth rate and stronger plants in the long term.

See for yourself! In our video, we show the mechanical planting process and the targeted addition of POLYSORB for an optimal start phase of the young plants.
