Green Legacy and El Ejidillo Viveros Integrales join forces in an interesting project that seeks to improve the sustainability and resilience of urban meadows in the face of climate change. The initiative is being carried out in the center of the Iberian Peninsula, mainly in the Madrid and Segovia area, and aims to address current environmental challenges through innovative solutions.
Trials for greater resilience
This project contemplates two main types of trials to be carried out in parallel, each focused on improving specific aspects of urban green spaces:
Sustainable and climate change resilient urban grasslands
The first trial aims to develop and implement more sustainable grasslands that are better adapted to changing climate conditions. In collaboration with El Ejidillo Viveros Integrales, we are evaluating how our hydrogels can improve the integration of these species into urban environments, increasing biodiversity and ensuring the long-term health of green spaces.

2. Deep hydrogels by injection lance
The second approach of the trial focuses on the application of hydrogels using a deep injection lance. This technique consists of introducing the hydrogel directly into the soil profile to improve its structure and optimize water retention in the deeper layers. This type of application is designed for tree wells, parks, gardens and public works sites, with the aim of ensuring a more efficient water supply for plants, reducing water stress and improving their resistance to extreme weather conditions.

The challenge of climate change in urban areas
The advance of climate change is seriously affecting the health of our green spaces. Prolonged droughts, extreme heat waves and increasingly erratic rainfall are having a negative impact on parks, gardens and public areas. These spaces are vital to the well-being of cities, but their maintenance has become more challenging.
In this context, innovative solutions such as Green Legacy’s Polygrain and Polysorb hydrogels are an effective answer. By improving water retention in the soil and optimizing the use of resources, these innovative products make it possible to maintain green areas that are healthier and more resilient to climatic adversities.
Towards a more efficient and sustainable green management
We are currently in the phase of data collection and evaluation of results, which will allow us to adjust methodologies and scale applications according to the specific needs of each space. Undoubtedly, the joint work between nursery experts and the advanced technological solutions offered by Green Legacy is an essential step towards the creation of more sustainable and resilient urban environments.
