On 3 June 2025, around 1,500 participants from all over the world gathered at the Vienna Hofburg for the ninth AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT, organized by the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative under the leadership of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Under the motto “Unite in Action – Terminate Pollution”, the conference was all about cross-border cooperation for more climate protection.
Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen opened the conference with a powerful speech in which he emphasized the urgency of collective action. Other high-profile speakers included:
- António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations
- Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
- Christian Stocker, Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria
- Wopke Hoekstra, EU Commissioner for Climate Action
- Monika Langthaler, Director of the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative
A special focus was placed on first responders, the emergency services on the front line of the climate crisis. Firefighters such as Dom Bei from California and Viktoria Zechmeister from Vienna reported on their experiences fighting forest fires and floods.
A musical highlight was the world premiere of the song “I’ll Be Back” by The BossHoss together with Arnold Schwarzenegger – a powerful statement for climate protection.
